Hi!
August 6th, 2008On Friday Andrea and I decided to spice up this blog a bit. We wanted it to read like a story, and as such we inserted a lot of fiction. We believed the fictional pieces of the story were so obviously fabricated that they might make people chuckle if they bothered to read the blog at all, which we believed they probably wouldn’t.
Surprisingly or unsurprisingly some people were upset by some of the content. To that I say, “Great!” There is no greater satisfaction than garnering passionate reactions to something you have created. I would have much preferred the reactions to have been positive, but considering the format, I understand the negativity. With a blog a reader might expect truth from its curator. However we intended to blur the line between traditional blog format and unreliable narrator.
Given the format, the challenge of fictionalizing your own life presents itself. We could not fake the fact that I am Josh and Andrea is Andrea. The two lead characters couldn’t very well have been the tortoise and the hare. So far the feedback we have received has been negative, but if you were interested by this fictional format, please let us know! We had a lot of fun on Friday messing with our readers, and we hope you’ve enjoyed the following pictures of our jaunt down the east coast. Thanks for reading!
