Hello world! Fine first title-let’s keep it.

A good place to start is probably last night’s Ranger game vs Toronto. I only caught the 2nd and 3rd while getting ready for my first, and only, Halloween party of the season (decent), but was still able to gather some thoughts. Although the score reflects otherwise, I don’t think this was a particularly horrendous game. The tying goal came off a good shot through a screen. The collapse happened shortly after when three weak attempts, the last I believe by Paul Mara, failed to clear the puck. Mass panic ensued and Henrik was able to make a nice pass from behind the net to a member of the opposing team.  My next point brought me a lot closer to Ryan Holliweg.  When he had had the 2 on 1 chance with Prucha, I couldn’t help but think how similar his movements were to me on a breakaway during JV basketball when all I could think was “please don’t pass it to me, please don’t pass it to me, for the love of God”.  I’ve gotten a lot of debate on this because apparently it was a tough elevated pass, but hey, that was my initial reaction. And maybe it was a lucky way out for our buddy R.H. But seriously, I don’t think the Rangers have a bad team. Wait given the roster that’s not humanly possible, they just seem to once again be going against the odds. So what’s the solution? Well maybe just some time to allow for clicking, but probably not. Def hoping Avery returns tomorrow even though I’m betting he’ll need a few weeks before making a huge impact. Maybe change up the powerplay a bit (ex Dubinsky or Prucha w/ Gomez). A more general note on the scoring problem: everyone’s got a lot of moves. The Rangers consistently outscoring opponents makes their lack of wins mysterious-sounding. In reality, there needs to be more of a push and willingness to drill in an ugly goal. I personally feel tomorrow is a must win. Otherwise, it might be fun to focus on some other aspect of this team. Like idk, just off the top of my head…. mmmm betting on the number of on camera drinks of water.
